What’s New in Spinnaker 1.24.0 release
Release date:
Spinnaker released the 1.24.0 version on 14th Dec 2020 that includes fixes, features, and performance improvements. This section provides a summary of notable improvements followed by the comprehensive changelog.
Prerequisites:
This release requires Halyard version 1.32.0 or later.
List of Fixes and New Features:
1. Official Docker Registry Has Changed
Official Spinnaker Kubernetes containers have moved from gcr.io/spinnaker-marketplace to us-docker.pkg.dev/spinnaker-community/docker.
If you use Halyard to deploy your containers, this shouldn’t affect you. Halyard will automatically use the new location since it’s written in the BOM files that Halyard uses to fetch release information.
Spinnaker images can be created using docker. Without docker images from the docker hub, Spinnaker images can not work in Kubernetes. Now installation and all configuration can be downloaded and run from the marketplace. We can customize the Spinnaker image on K8S containerization.
2. Bake helm charts using git/repo artifacts
The Bake (manifest) stage now gets artifacts from Git repository while baking a helm chart.
3. Capacity Provider Strategy support for Amazon ECS
The Amazon ECS provider now supports capacity provider strategy to deploy your ECS service for Spinnaker installation
