Interested in Contributing to Spinnaker? Attend Spinnaker Code Night
What: A technical meetup where anyone can spend 3 hours working with the Netflix Spinnaker team on contributing to Spinnaker.
Who: – New contributors looking for help getting started- Existing contributors who want a PR looked at or want to pair program- Anyone who wants to conduct technical discussions around features/direction for Spinnaker
Prerequisites: A familiarity with Spinnaker and ability to code.
Goal (taken in part from http://hackergarten.net/): Our goal for this event is to create something that others can use; whether it be working software, improved documentation, or better educational materials. Our intent is to end this night with a patch or similar contribution submitted to Spinnaker or a Netflix OSS project.
Held at Netflix Los Gatos on Wednesday, December 13th.
Capped at 50 attendees (prioritized based on the following)
a) Already familiar with Spinnaker Architecture and are a current user or evaluator.
b) Willingness to actively contribute to Spinnaker
Schedule: 6-9pm
6:00 – 6:30: Sign in (name + email), get food and drinks, pick a room.
6:30 – 8:00: Start coding in a room.
8:00 – 9:00: Switch to a new room if desired.
Room 1 (beginner):
- First steps to contributing
- Getting a local dev environment working
- Adding to the docs
Room 2 (intermediate):
- Building a custom stage (orca + deck)
- Customization in deck for your organization
- Integrating with your tools
Room 3 (advanced):
- Getting a PR looked at
- Discussing architecture or a feature
- Developing in Orca or Clouddriver
Room 4 (intermediate):
- Halyard
- Kubernetes
